Open Water Diver Course

Academic Requirements:
The Open Water Diver Course begins with an interesting CD ROM based, home study program. (Also available in textbook/video format) By completing the course work in the comfort of your own home, on your own time schedule, there is no need to spend hours of your valuable time in a classroom. During your home studies you will have unlimited email access to your private tutor.

Our instructional staff are all professionally trained and certified diving instructors averaging over 20 years diving experience. Every one of our instructors has been through weeks of intensive instructor training. Along with being some of the best divers in the world, our staff have also had extensive training in educational theory and philosophy, curriculum development and learning theories, water safety, diving safety and environmental education. In an effort to be prepared for any eventuality, all of our instructors have been trained in water rescues, CPR and First Aid. The majority of them in fact, have completed training and hold certifications as CPR/First Aid instructors.

The knowledge and experiences gained will give you the ability to safely enjoy the aquatic environment anywhere in the world.

Dive Requirements:
The Open Water Diver Course consists of two or three days of water training.

Course schedules vary slightly depending upon which of our facilities with whom you choose to complete your training. The first evening you will practice in a swimming pool, this is usually about a four or five hour session. The remaining two days will be at an actual dive site used for recreational diving. Upon successful completion of the two and a half days of training you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver Certification. Through our Private Diver Program, you can complete all required water training in just two days. Please see the Training Schedule for dates of the variety of training sessions open to you.
