Homeschoolers are welcome in any of our youth programs, but we specifically offer the following programs for Homeschoolers at special discounts. These programs will generally be taught by our Youth Programs director (who was Homeschooled K - 12 before attending the University of Washington for a B.S. in Biology), or the owner of Seattle Scuba.  

SCUBA is a completely non-competitive, very relaxing & fun activity that allows exploration of the underwater world and facilitates the understanding of a number of basic concepts of physics, chemistry & biology.  

Jr. Open Water Diver program - for ages 12 & up - Parents are welcome to join!

This is a full certification program involving extensive home study, some classroom lecture, pool training and open water dives. Upon completion of this program you will be a certified PADI (or NAUI if you prefer) Open Water diver. 

The home study program is perfect to incorporate into a Homeschool curriculum, it covers basic dive science, aquatic awareness, physical health topics and more. Participants will complete studies at home (approximately 15 - 20 hours worth), then join us for academic review sessions to pick out any areas of confusion/concern.

Next we will we will get started on the pool training, the pool training will take at least 2 pool sessions. In these pool sessions we will introduce participants to all the basic skills of Scuba diving and practice them until sufficient proficiency is obtained to be safe divers. We schedule 2 sessions to start with, but will add more as necessary at no extra charge to ensure that every participant is comfortable with the skills and feels ready to go on to the Open Water dives.

The next step is the Open Water dives, conducted on a weekday that is convenient for you and your instructor. We will be doing at least 4 dives in Puget Sound - don't worry, we will be wearing THICK wetsuits to stay warm - over 2 or more days. Again, our main goal for all our program is the ensure that participants are comfortable with the necessary skills to dive safely, so we will schedule extra time as needed. 

Homeschoolers get a 30% discount off of our standard class tuition for this program - Standard price is $325 per person tuition + $70 study materials. Homeschooler price is $227.50 Tuition + $70 Study Materials.

Limitations: Open Water Dives must be scheduled during the week, not on weekends.
