IDC - INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE
Seattle Scuba: Instructor Development Course
Are you a PADI Divemaster? Are you ready to take the next step?
If you are a PADI Divemaster who has over 100 logged dives and have been a certified diver for over 6 months, then you’re ready to become a Professional PADI Dive Instructor!
The program begins with the PADI online Dive Theory Course. The theory exams that you’ll be taking during the Instructor Examination are a great deal more in depth than those you passed in order to become a PADI Divemaster. You will begin by reviewing the online Dive Theory Course.
During the program you will learn to use the PADI system of diver education in the classroom, pool and open water as you gain the skills and knowledge to become a PADI Instructor. Along the way you will review your rescue skills and participate in a number of enjoyable workshops focusing on a variety of skills, tips and techniques needed to become a PADI Instructor. All of this training will help to prepare you for your upcoming Instructor Exam.
Upon completion of the IDC you will participate in the Instructor Examination (IE). The IE takes place over 2 days. An independent examiner from PADI will administer the exams. There will be tests on your general water and diving skills, your academic knowledge, and on your teaching presentations in the classroom as well as in pool and open water environments. For certification as a PADI Instructor you will need to pass all parts of the IE.
The EFR Instructor Course is a prerequisite for participation in the PADI IE. If you do not already hold the EFR Instructor rating it will be offered in conjunction with the IDC. Click here for details.
What can I do after the IE?
Upon successful completion of the IE you will be authorized to teach PADI certification courses; Open Water Diver , Advanced Open water Diver, Rescue Diver and Divemaster. Additionally, you will be able to conduct Discover Scuba Diving, Reactivate, Discover Local Diving, Bubblemaker, Seal Team and Skin Diver programs.
If you have interest in teaching PADI Specialty Courses, participation in the Specialty Instructor training through the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Course is a great way to gain experience and add to what you can offer on your resume for future employment.
