The Scuba Schools' PADI Divemaster course is the most sought after program of training in dive leadership in the world today.
The course is designed to train qualified individuals as dive supervisors. Divemasters are in demand worldwide by diving resorts where they oversee general diving activities and serve as an underwater guides. As the sport diving gains popularity, the demand for the PADI Divemaster is rapidly expanding and with this increase, the value of Divemaster training is readily apparent.
The importance of the Divemaster program to the sport of diving cannot be overstated. The rating denotes an individual who has a high level of personal diving skill, has instructor level knowledge of diving theory, has had significant training in how to assist other divers, and is able to assume a role of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his or her charge.
FREE Specialty Courses: When completing the Seattle Scuba Divemaster Course you will receive the Deep Diving and Search and Recovery Specialties FREE of charge. We think these programs are so important to safe diving in the Pacific Northwest we include them at no charge in the Divemaster Course.
Time Commitment Academic Sessions: 8 - 10 evenings Pool Training Evenings: 4 Open Water Training Sessions: 4 days for workshops & training, 4 - 5 weekends for internships
The course consists of three phases:
Personal watermanship and scuba skills development.
Knowledge Development: expand your knowledge of diving theory and practice.
Practical application: assists Instructors and Divemasters in teaching dive classes and in supervising groups of divers.
The Divemaster Course is a prerequisite to the PADI Instructor rating and hence the course aims to shape the diver's ability and attitude as professional diving educators.
The goals of Divemaster training are to:
Enable the Divemaster to organize, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities; and conduct certain programs independently such as the Scuba Review, Discover Local Diving and other programs.
Enable the Divemaster to effectively act as an instructional assistant.
Develop the theoretical diving knowledge of the Divemaster to instructor level.
The Scuba Schools' Divemaster Course is enjoyable, deeply rewarding and a has lasting consequence on the safety of diving in general. Our goal at Scuba Schools is to produce a Divemaster who is confident and competent in his or her abilities and who is ready to take over a leadership role in the diving industry.
Academic Requirements: In the Divemaster Course you will develop your knowledge of diving in the areas of diver supervision, physics, physiology, equipment, skills & environment and the Recreational Dive Planner through self study. You will then meet for review sessions with other Divemaster Candidates and your instructor to prepare for the Final Exam covering each subject area.
Dive/Water Training Requirements: Entry Requirements: To begin the Divemaster program you must have have completed the Open Water, Advanced Open Water & Rescue Diver classes (or equivalent) & have 40 logged dives.
Exit Requirements: By the end of the Divemaster program you need to have at least 60 logged dives in a variety of environments including deep, night & limited visibility.
During the Divemaster Course you will develop your dive skills through various water training exercises:
Dive Skills Workshop - you will practice the basic skills of the beginner level programs until you have 'demonstration quality' dive skills - enabling you to demonstrate them to beginner level divers as needed
Practical Applications - you will demonstrate appropriate set-up of a training area, learn how to give a dive briefing, map a dive site, demonstrate safe Deep Diving and appropriate Search and Recovery techniques....
Program Specific Workshops: During the program in addition to working on your skills as a training assistant and certified diver supervisor, you will learn how to conduct the programs that you will be certified to complete independently after you gain the Divemaster rating - Scuba Review, Discover Local Diving, Discover Scuba Diving, Skin Diving & Snorkeling....
Working with Classes: In the Internship portion of the program you will work with classes alongside an instructor in order to hone your skills as an instructional assistant.
