This is not your typical trip to Mexico! The trip will be led by a native of Tulum, Mexico, who has 20 years of experience diving and leading trips to the area.

This trip is highly specialized to our group, there will be no rushed 'cattle boat' trips, no huge 'gringo' all inclusive resorts, no trips to the same Cenote that everyone visits.

We will visit parts of the Riviera Maya without the huge crowds of tourists. We will be staying at an environmentally conscious hotel & diving in a relaxed atmosphere with businesses that will support the local peoples, not huge foreign corporations. The Cenotes we will dive are a little farther away than the closest ones, but worth it for their seclusion. We will take a trip out into the Gulf of Mexico to Holbox Island to observe whale sharks migrating, this part of the trip will be run by a native of Holbox who lived in Seattle for 8 years & completed his Divemaster training with Seattle Scuba.

About Playa del Carmen

A paradise in the caribbean... Playa del Carmen is home to alabaster beaches, beautiful coral reefs, warm water, gentle surf and peaceful vacations. Less visited than Cozumel, Playa del Carmen certainly is equal in beauty, but is much more peaceful.

Ocean Diving:playawreck.jpg
The diving around Playa is warm and wonderful! Leaving from Playa you will have access to the great Mayan barrier reef, the 2nd largest in the world. This area is home to a variety of large fauna such as sea turtles, morays, puffer fish... down to the tiny Christmas tree worms and their reef relatives. Beautiful sea life in crystal clear waters and the water temperature is a warm a balmy ~ 80 degrees in the summer, so you can leave the drysuit at home!

Cenote Diving: cenoteentrance.jpg
The Cenotes or Mayan caverns are a unique feature to this part of the world. Giant underwater limestone caverns with huge stalagmites and stalagtites, formed out of the minerals that filter through the porous ground of the area, filled with pure, filtered freshwater. No prior cavern diving experience or certification is necessary to do these dives.
